Six waxwings reported on BirdGuides today in Conwy. Anybody know whereabouts?

They are at Towyn - Gors Road - in tree opposite catholic church.
Get down there!
Cheers. Henerz.

Just seen Miken, he was on his way there. Lets hope he gets some pics.

I didn't have time to go, gutted, and I was so close.

Had a look for the waxwings at 3pm but no sign of them. Very few berries left on the two bushes at the road junction so can't see them hanging round here too long although the nearby lane leading to the holiday camp has plenty of berry laden bushes so hopefully they may still be around tomorrow. Mike turned up as I was leaving, don't know if he had any better luck...

Hi John.
As far as I could tell I was the only person looking for them at 2.00pm,
No sign afterwards either. I will try again tomorrow.
Mike.

Seven waxwings were still present this morning from at least 9 to 9.45am when they were high up in trees in the catholic church car park. After about 20 minutes they started to fly lower to bushes behind the church and then a couple flew into the bushes on the main road opposite church... and just as I was about to take photos my battery went dead! These were earlier distant shots:

Called back in around 2.15pm but no sign of them although they could well be feeding nearby.

Yeah I legged it over there at lunchtime yesterday and there were 8 birds feeding on the junction of Llys Madoc and Gors Road and they were in a garden north of the Catholic Church and perched in a high poplar to the south of the church for a while. A couple flew down to the ground to drink out of a puddle on the pavement. Stonking birds and the first I've seen for a couple of years (at the Lynx roundabout and Asda in Llandudno).

Funny enough the first Waxwing I ever saw was in Towyn in about 89/90!

Lets hope we get a few more with this north air on its way!

Rob

nine birds showing well at 10.00am, flighty but periodically returning to the garden immediately north of the Catholic church.

Mike.
