The software that runs the forum is a few years old and there is an upgrade available.

We are looking at the upgrade now, and it will take place sometime over the next few weeks. The new forum will look slightly different, but functionally should the same, and even contain some improvements.

We will test the upgrade before hand to make sure everything works as it should, and don't worry, your login details and existing posts will stay the same.

If you have any questions, drop me a PM or reply to this post, I will do my best to answer any questions you have.

Wally

OK, the testing is going well, we just need to finalise some settings, but I thought I would give you all a sneak peek of what is coming.

The Forum upgrade is complete.

You should find all your posts where they were previously, but if there are any issues, please PM me or post a reply to this thread.

The layout is ever so slightly different and it may take a few days to get familiar with, the PM section and menus along the top spring to mind, but I have kept with the old template to keep things as similar as possible.

Let me know what you think.

Nice upgrade as it's now exactly like Devachat, something I'm very used to!

The frontpage no longer seems to update. Mine still shows the postings for last Sunday as most recent when I initially connect to the site. I can log in OK though.

Regards
Derek

Good to know people use the front page.

The front page is now updating, although the module used is a new one, so looks slightly different.

Good work with the upgrade - and the forum in general, as ever boys - only problem I find is that the old posts that I have not looked at are still highlighted each time I log on. Can this be sorted? I'm running firefox...

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

We now have two options at the top right.

"View unread posts" - does exactly that. It lists all the posts you haven't read.

"View new posts" - lists new posts since your last visit.

Does this help?

Adrian

Cheers Adrian.

Still prefer to be able to scan all the sub-sections and see the threads/updates I have not clicked on since I last visited the forum rather than them all highlighted.

regards

Andrew

Andrew, It is the threads you haven't 'read' since your last visit, so unless you actually open each thread, they should by design, stay highlighted.

Yes I realise that Wally just preferred the old style where it was easier to ignore the threads on the sub-sections I'm not interested in.
